STREPA’LERT ®

Group A ß-hemolytic streptococcus (also known as Streptococcus pyogenes) infection of the throat is the most common bacterial cause of acute pharyngitis and is also responsible for some skin infections such as impetigo and erysipelas.

The STREPA’LERT ® test is a specific immunological rapid test for the detection of group A streptococcus bacteria in throat infections. It can quickly determine whether a sore throat is caused by a Strep A or other germs (usually viruses) that do not require antibiotic treatment.

When should the test be performed?

The STREPA’LERT ® test should be performed in case of:

  • Strep throat symptoms include red / swollen throat or tonsils
  • Body aches
  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting or listlessness

Why should self-screening be performed?

  • Test can be performed comfortably at any time at home, away from hospitals or medical centres
  • Easy test result reading
  • Permanent monitoring of your health condition
  • Please check our video for advice on how to use the test or read the results – VIDEO
  • Early screening, allows effective treatment using either antibiotics in case of bacterial infection, or other treatment, depending on symptoms in the case of viral infection. Treating the infection at an early stage eliminates the risk of a more severe infection and allows optimal use of antibiotics.
